Unable to connect to VSS from another domain.

I am trying to connect to VSS on a different domain (belongs to the client), while I use an ID of another domain to login to windows. I have an ID in both the domains, but cannot login to windows using the ID which is used to VSS as it is in client domain. Since VSS has windows integrated authentication, I am unable to connect to it directly from VS2005.

Is there a feature in VS2005 which I can enable/disable so that instead of taking my current windows login ID for authentication, its asks me to enter the client domain's credentials to be able to access the code in VSS from VS2005, like what we get in Visual InterDev, or a place where I can change the domain, username and password to be used to access VSS from VS2005?

If its not possible to access the code using a different domain ID from VS2005 - can anyone please throw in alternatives to get around the issue?

Thanks in advance!
Chaitanya

Hi Chaitanya,

I recommend SourceAnywhere for VSS to you. It is a remote access add-on tool for SourceSafe and can provides you fast, reliable and secure remote access to VSS database.

More info can be found here:

Thanks.

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try looking into it, but I was wondering if there is no way through which we can connect to VSS from VS2005 if the VSS needs a login ID from a different domain? I mean while SourceAnywhere would be an effective solution, is there any other way by which we can access the VSS by changing any settings in VS2005?

Thanks,
Chaitanya
