Settings for opening rc file as txt file

First of all I am not sure, whether I am in the exactly right forum here.
I searched for a forum with a title like "Visual Studio - Configurations / Settings" or something similar. Since there is no forum like this, I hope this forum here "Visual Studio - Setup" is the right one to ask my question.

I want to read and edit *.rc files as text files. I want to tell the Visual Studio to open droped ( drag n drop ) *rc.files with the Visual Studio text editor. Where is the setting in the Visual Studio to do that?

Hi ThePerfectWave,

Thank you for your post.

To open RC file as Text file (Notepad) via Visual Studio IDE, you can try the following steps:

In Solution Explorer, right click *.rc file >> Open With... >> Choose the program that you want to open the RC file >> Click "Set as Default" >> Click "OK".
Next time you open the RC file, it will be opened with the program that you want in Visual Studio IDE.

Hope this helps. If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
Yichun Chen
