Installing VS2008SP1MSDNENUX1506188.iso in Vista that does not have VS2008

Hi

This is from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7bbe5eda-5062-4ebb-83c7-d3c5ff92a373&DisplayLang=en
==============
MSDN Library is integrated with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Help by default and is integrated into the F1 Help function. However, the MSDN Library can also be installed and viewed as a stand-alone reference, and does not require Visual Studio 2008.
==============

I am trying to install the MSDN in a computer that does not have VS2008 SP1 but has VS 2008 Express SP1. I am getting following message:
"Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirement....

A compatible version of VS2008 was not detected on the system. This update is desined..."

But the information from the website says that it does not required VS2008.

Am I missing something?

cheers'

Hello Avishesh,

You may verify that whether you have installed any MSDN Edition like MSDN Express Library before, if so, just uninstall it and re-install the MSDN Library you mentioned above to see if it can fix this issue.

Hi Avishesh,

I did not install MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 on machines that does not have VS 2008 before. From what Microsft said, the library can be installed on machines without VS 2008.

Anyway, you can try installing VS 2008 and then install MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2008 SP1 again to see if it works.
