Instability of BIDS studio at client PC

When using BIDS 2005, me and my fellow workers, experience fatal BIDS errors at client pc's which operate at windows XP.

We connect to a solution stored at the network drive.
About 5 to 10 times a day fatal errors occur which cause BIDS to restart.

When working on terminal session, with windows server 2003, there is no such behaviour.

Is my suggestion right that BIDS is unstable at XP operating system?

I work daily with BIDS 2005 under Windows XP and I never had any problems like you.

The only difference I see is I don't have my solution on a network drive, I also have them local on my system.

Hi Olaf, my solution is at a network drive, and all data sources point to servers.
When you work locally , do you have everything locally stored (like for instance the database?)?

I've received feedback from con-colleagues and they experience the same, most therefore work at terminal service to not face the instability

I only have the BIDS solution local, all other resources like SQL Server, Analysis & Reporting services are located on a server.

We work also in a team and to share the solution we use subversion as a source versioning software; this is also on a server.

Hi Peglegspeedking,

The issue should be a Visual Studio issue. I will help to move this thread to Visual Studio forum. Then you will get more and more help from that forum.

Appreciate your understanding.

Thanks,

Hi Peglegspeedking

What fatal error did you encounter?

You can try some general points mentioned here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/0376db8f-4761-4ae5-9af2-98c53216318a#VS_IDE_unexpected_problems to see if they help.

thanks.
