VSTS - Web Test - FIND TEXT command

I have run a web test using the FIND TEXT command and unexpectedly

it returned a TRUE value on meta data (data not actually displayed on the screen).

Is this :

a) a defect

- or -

b) a system feature and working as designed.

If it's working as designed is there a way to use the FIND TEXT command with only the data that is DISPLAYED on the wen page?
