Unable to uninstall several guidance packages

I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not as GAX and GAT are only two of the guidance packages that I cannot uninstall at this point. This is the only forum that seems to be dedicated to guidance packages, though.

Basically, I cannot uninstall any of the following packages:

Guidance Automation Extensions (Feb 2007)

Guidance Automation Toolkit (Feb 2007)

Web Client Software Factory (Jan 2007)

Web Service Softwarwe Factory (Dec 2006)

Attemping to uninstall of these packages invariably results in a "cannot load this or that file/assembly" exceptionor "you must uninstall this or that file/assembly first" exceptionand the roll back of the uninstall operation. I've try reinstalling and repairing each package to no effect. I'm at my wits end with this. I've even resorted to uninstalling Visual Studio 2005 and the Enterprise Library (3.1), which hasn't done anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jon,

The Guidance Automation Extensions (GAX) is not really a guidance package but the runtime itself needed to run guidance packages. Without GAX installed ok there is no hope the other packages you're listing will install at all.

So, let's try to diagnose what may be failing during your GAX installation. Can you post here the exact and complete error message your're getting when attempting to install it? Also, are you running XP or Vista?

thanks,

-Victor.

Thanks for the reply, but I just ended up hacking the registry to get rid of them.

Can you post your workaround about hacking the registry.

Thank you,
