Unable to add data connection

Newbie question:

I am have just installedSQL Server SP2.

In VS, I notice that the Data Connections tab properties is blanked out.

I cannot add a data connection or create a database from Server Explorer in VS.

I have no problem doing this in SQL Express Manager

When I try to add a data connection from the Server explorer inside VS, the following happens.

I test the connection which reporst"successful".

I receive the message "unable to add data connection"

"object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Many people seem to have had this problem. Can anyone offer a clearsolution?

Help would be much appreciated.

Paul
