Receipe Designer toolbox only contains the "Argument" item.

thereceipe designer has not been working correctly for either the first version of the install or the latest update. (i.e. the second version of the june 2007 tk with the propertyprocessor fix)

If i create a new receipe and open it up. the design surface appears fine but the toolbox "Receipe Designer" only contains one item "Argument" all others items that are on the video do not appear in my toolbox.

anyone else seen this problem??

Hi Mick,

This may be due to a mix of two different versions of the DSL Tools runtime. I've asked the team to look into this and I'll get back to you ASAP.

thanks,
-Victor.

Hi Mick,

There is a known issue in Visual Studio/DSL Tools regarding the caching of toolbox items. Please try right clicking on the Toolbox and selecting "Reset Toolbox". This may fix it. If that doesn't work please let me know and I'll point you where the file caching the toolbox items lives so you can delete it and VS will properly recreate it (I don't remember from the top of my head where this file lives).

HTH,
-Victor.

Hi Mick,

The video and documentation for the Recipe Designer is oudated (sorry!). We are working on having an updated version ASAP and we didn't want to delay the shipping of the bits.

In the Jun07 CTP drop the Recipe Designer is serializing directly to a GAX XML package configuration file, which means there is no more need for the "Generate" menu which was used previously to generate a corresponding GAX XML package configuration file from the model file (.recipe).

The .recipe file is now both, the actual XML package configuration and the storage where the model is persisted. That's is the reason too why it's roundtripping. You can modify your recipe using the designer surface or the xml and they will keep in sync.

Let me know if you have questions,

thanks,
-Victor.

Looking in debugview i get the following trace when registering a package.. a significant line relating to this is the 2nd last one... Package 'Clarius.RecipeDesigner.RecipeDesignerPackage, Clarius.RecipeDesigner.DslPackage, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=4ae4b538a4da32ed' failed to load. this would indicate why i dont get the proper toolbox???

Hi Mick,

We haven't been able to repro this. By the error it looks like VS can't load the Recipe Designer package, which may be due to a few different things (PLK, etc) that we have tested and a working ok on several Virtual PCs.

We could try to repro on a configuration as much similar as yours as possible. Can you tell me the version # of the different bits you have installed (VS SDK, etc)?

thanks,

-Victor.

i uninstalled everything....

(actually i had toedit the registry for all guidance packages because i couldnt remove webservice software factory and the web client sf and as a result could not remove GAX, i checked an earlier post: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=502698&SiteID=1).

i then reinstalled, GAX/GAT & SFT and it looks like its working ok now.

Note:I didnt remove or update the VS SDK by the way. so maybe it was just the installer had problems.

weird.

thanks for the help guys....

anyways back to work!!
