Problems installing a Guidance Package

Dear readers.

I still got a problem with my Guidance Package. I hoped the new GAX release would fix it, but it doesn't.

Summary of the problem:

I have deinstalled my VS2005 a while ago and am running VS2008. I succesfully installed the new GAX/GAT release and am able to build new Guidance Packages.

I have a package that I began developing with VS2005 but is now built with VS2008. Unfortunately I can't install it via the installer. It always fails with the info, that "Visual Studio is not installed", which is definitely wrong.

I am able to register the Guidance Package manually in VS2008.

I have the same problem if I set up a new virtual machine with VS2008.

I hope there is any help. Thanks in advance.

With best regards,

Nils

Hi,

Did you create the installer for this package yourself? Does it perform a checkwether Visual Studio is installed? Maybe it checks for "8.0" (VS 2005) instead of "9.0" (VS 2008). You can inspect the .msi file with a tool called "Orca". Maybe that helps to find out if there are any incorrect checks.

In the future if you handle this sort of thing offline can you please post the solution as well?

Hi Vga & Noge,

I am also facing the similar problem what Noge was facing.

We had one package in VS2005 which is now moved to VS2008 & its getting built & registering. But when I am trying to deploy the setup on other machine , if the system is having VS2005 its getting installed there, or if VS 2005 is not there,it is throwing error that no binding has been installed in the current machine for host Visual Studio. I would like to mention that I am currently using GAT Feb 08 CTP.

So can you please post the solution, I am in urgent need of this.

Thanks in advance,

Haritosh
