I was trying to install GAT and GAX on my Windows2003 computer.

I installed GAX first and worked fine. I had a problem when I installed GAT. The installing screen was hang over an hour, I tried to Cancel it, it would't work. So I used Task Manager to End the Installation. Now I had more problems, I can't uninstall GAT and tried to install GAT, failed again. And I can't uninstall GAX either.

What should I do to fix this problem? How can I unstall GAT or install GAT successful?

Is the uninstallation of GAX failing with any specific errors? If you killed the GAT install most probably it didn't have a chance to rollback so there will be traces of GAT on your computer. I'm guessing that GAX won't uninstall because it detects that GAT is partly installed.

Take a look at the RecipeFramework.xml file and check for an entry of GAT in the <GuidancePackages> element, and delete it. After that, try uninstalling GAX again. It should finally uninstall.

When I tried to uninstall GAX, first I got message: "An installation for Guidance Automation Toolkit is currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by the installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?" I cliked on "YES", then I got another error: "An exception occurred while uninstalling. This exception will be ignored and the uninstall will continue. However, the application might not be fully uninstalled after the uninstall is complete. --> The uninstallation fo the Guidance Automation Runtime cannot be done. You mst first uninstall the follwoing fuidance packages(s): MetaGuidancePackage." Then the uninstallation roll back.

I can't find RecipeFramework.xml in my computer, but find MetaGuidancePackage under GAT folder. Deleted the whole GAT fold and try to uninstall GAX. This time I got "Fatal error during installation".

Which piece I missed here?
