Newb Question: Where to get started on item template and documentation

I am a complete newb to Guidance Automation, however, I am currently working on a project that should be designed as follows: The end result of this project would allow for a user who is using Report Services in VS 2005 to click add new item and be presented with a report template that I have previously created. Upon opening this item documentation outlining specific standards and other information will also be opened or included within the project.

Where would I get started in creating a recipe to do this or is Guidance Automation even the right choice? I have experimented with creating "dumb" report item templates, but would really like to include some form of documentation feature within the item.

Hi Kolby,

With GAT you can create a default guidance package, there you'll find a couple of sample on how to create and unfold your own vstemplates. Basically what you have to do is:

- create your report file and a vstemplate that reference it.
- create a recipe or a template reference.
- define where that recipe will be showed (through a reference).
