Is WSSF right for me?

hi, I find myself looking for a .net framework to help me develop using c#. My needs a pretty basic, persistence (data access, etc), bussines logic and an interface.

For what I've read, WSSF provides everything but the user interface, but I can't really see what I can or can't do with this framework... I thought I might use WCSF as well to complement it.

So, is this framework right for my needs or should I be looking for something else?

Thanks!

Sure, however you should evaluate if the Data Access Guidance Package meets your requirements because is intended to provide guidelines during the construction of services oriented applications on enterprise environments. Anyway WSSF it's a must have if your application is based on a service oriented architecture.

Visit the WSSF community for more information:

hope it helps.

Thanks Jose! I kept on reading info on WSSF and watched a few videos made by Don Smith an finilly realised what you just told me.

I was thinking on a framework that helps me build regular web-based applications... but WSSFs goal is to help build service oriented applications. And I think I should try to build my applications thinking about services, but... now I only need to read more about SOA because I'm looking forward on using WSSF in some upcoming projects. The thing is that I don't know much about SOA, and I would like to know if the application should be divided in services (each one having it's own data access, bussines logic, etc) or try to implement all the data access for the application in a web services, all the bussines logic in another service, and so on...

really appreciate your help!

Hi,
This is not a best place to talk about architecture, SOA and WSSF but I can suggest you to take a look at following positions:
- Prentice Hall - Web Services Platform Architecture
Not a newest book about SOA but clears more important issues.
- Skyscrapr Portal
there you can find some nice materials about SOA, four tenets, - there you can find some nice materials about SOA, four tenets.
- Service-Oriented Architecture; Concepts, Technologhy, and Desing by Thomas Erl
What about your problem with web application try to use WCSF and only Data Access Guidance Package from WSSF and you should have full Software Factory platform.
