Please check your user's temp directory for a folder named "gax-[randomnumber].log". That file shoud contain detailed info about the installation process which may help to pinpoint what may be going wrong in your specific case.
A common cause for this is because an opened instance of VS existed at the time of GAX installation, please make sure you don't have any VS instances open at that time.
