Just stumbled onto the whole smart client composite application material and am trying to install the Smart Client Software Factory and associated components. Checked for dependencies and found that I needed to install Guidance Automation Extensions, Enterprise Library, Guidance Automation Toolkit, and Visual Studio 2008 SDK (using Windows XP Pro SP3 and VS 2008).

I installed Guidance Automation Extensions, Enterprise Library, the SDK, but then failed onGuidance Automation Toolkit with error 2869.

I uninstalled Enterprise Library and Guidance Automation Extensions and then attempted Guidance Automation Toolkit as suggested elsewhere to then reinstall GAT first and then reinstall Enterprise Library and Guidance Automation Extensions.

I am now stuck to where I can neither fully remove or reinstall GAT as either produces the 2869 error.

How can I remove GAT and start again?

in the links, the problem is using otheroperation system andthe GATcorresponds with the 2005 version.

but perhaps the solution could be the same.
