Guidance Automation Kit installation issues

My company is embarking on a large web project. I decided to evaluate web client factory to build the web-site. Here is my story.

I tried to install Web Client service factory and got the message that it requires the Feb 2007 GAT. I had a previous version of the GAT. So, I tried to uninstall the GAT (could not install latest, without uninstalling previous version), so that I could install the latest GAT i.e. July 2007. I could not find the download for the Feb 2007 GAT.

Anyway, I did not realize that I had not shut down VS2005 while uninstalling the GAT. The message said that to some thing to this effect - "Uninstall may not succeed, but it will still go ahead and remove files".

This was the beginning of my nightmare for the past few days. I took the following steps:

1. Shutdown VS 2005

2. Uninstall Guidance Automation Toolkit - unsuccessful.

3. Install the latest July 2007 GAX - unsuccessful.

4. Deleted various registry keys related to GAX and deleted all the Recipeframework dlls I could find.

5. Install the latest July 2007 GAX - succesful.

6a.Install Enterprise Library 3.1 - successful

6b. Install the web client factory - successful

7. Using the web client factory template, tried to create web-site, failed with the message "automation error, could not findCLSID 70BAB4E1-E21D-44D0-95D0-5B6312E494D1

8. Wit's end - try again - create a clean slate.

9. Uninstall web service factory - unsuccessful

10. Uninstall web client factory - successful.

11. Uninstall Enterprise library 3.1 - unsuccessful.

12. Uninstall GAX - unsuccesful. message - first uninstall ASMXGuidancePackage, Data...Package.....

Help, Help, Help..................

Thanks

Hi,

well, you already have installed GAX, so try to repair the gax instalation with the same .msi file chossing Repair instead of Uninstall, then install GAT (same version as GAX, July 07)

after that try to create a simple guidance package, going to New Solution, Guidance Packages, "Guidance Package".

if you can see the initial Wizard page, so that means that the error "automation error, could not findCLSID 70BAB4E1-E21D-44D0-95D0-5B6312E494D1" was fixed.

If the problem persists, let me know.

Hi,

I am trying to install Web Client Software Factory February 2008, and facing the same "Class not registered -Looking for object with CLSID: {70BAB4E1-E21D-44D0-95D0-5B6312E494D1}." problem. I have tried to re-install / repair the GAX & GAT several times. No use. Give me a proper solution to resolve my problem. I am using VS2008 Team System version.

Thanks,
Abdul
