Microsoft,
Is there a roadmap with reliable dates as to when the GAT will be released as a product for those who want to use it to create their own guidance packages for VS 2005 and VS 2008?
Withthelast CTP in July and a lack of information on beta and release dates it doesn't look like this tool is destined for release any time soon.

We are lining up to ship our release that supports both VS2008 and VS2005 in Jan 2008. -- Grigori

The upgradescenariowill besupported for VS2005. Guidance packages that are registered with the previous version of GAX will automatically be registered with the GAX Feb 2008 (GAT, however, will require an update).
Visual Studio side-by-side scenario will also be supported. Though, just as with previous releases, you cannot run multiple versions of GAX on a single box,GAX Feb 2008 will setup the bits to support both VS2005 and VS2008.
Regards,
Grigori

What does this mean in detail? Will you consider migration/update install scenarios? If one has VS2k5 installed with GAX/GAT CTP 0707 and all MS factories + custom developed factories running on top of VS2k5 GAX/GAT CTP0707 and DSL Toolkit. Then VS2k8 gets installed on the same box, now GAX/GAT CTP0208 (for instance) comes out and will get installed on the same box, will this scenario be supported? Will it be possible to run 2 versions of GAX/GAT side by side or will you support an upgrade install mode that will setup the bits for both VS2k5 and VS2k8 without requiring the painfull uninstall process of all guidance packages and factories to get rid of the previous installed GAX/GAT version?
This is an absolutely needed supported scenario!

Hi Terry,
I'll make sure your question gets to the MS GAX team so you get a better idea of this.
thanks, -V.

Thanks. This is encouraging.
When you say 'release', will it be another CTP, a Beta, or an actual product release? If not an actual product release do you have a target date for such a release?

Grigori,
You indicated that you were"lining up to ship our release that supports both VS2008 and VS2005 in Jan 2008". Here we are in February and I haven't seen any more information on the release.
Could you please provide us with an update on where things are at including answers to Andy's questions so we know how to proceed with this tool?
