64 bit installer support

I've just tried to install the Guidance automation toolkit and Smart client software factory - april 2008. To be honest I wasn't surprised to see that both of these didn't work.

64 bit computing is obviously a mythical beast that haunts the dreams of software developers and keeps them up in the night.

But in all seriousness is this going to be supported? It's really quite pathetic it's not already. I have to wonder why Microsoft even brought out the 64 bit version of their OS, if not all their development teams are bothering to support it.

Does anyone know when this will be supported? Or maybe it would be easier to just buy vista 32 bit? (maybe ms 64 bit os(s) == WinMe)

After installing, I was unable to get anything to work. I even had to use MSIZap to uninstall each package. Unbelievable...

First a little apology is in order.

I have install the Guidance automation tookit on Vista 64 without much trouble after releasing the 4 digit error code was because I had an instance of VS open. Maybe a message stating that could be added to future revisions to supplement the error code?

The Smart client software factory dependency checker is broken, but thankfully the installer will continue without complaining. Maybe this could be fixed in future versions too?

So it appears possible to install under a 64 bit MS OS, and therefore I am somewhat apologetic for my comments above. However, I still believe that further effort needs to be made so that the install process on a 64 bit OS is not buggy.
