OK, the answer as it stands at the moment.
Vista is a Beta - that means that it is still undergoing changes to ensure it works correctly. As far as the .NET framework goes and the VB Express - sure your can install them on vista and they appear to work.
I say that very carefully as they are still being tested at microsoft to ensure compatibility with Vista when the final versions are released. So you are taking a little risk with using Vista and if its a machine that you dont mind reformating or possibly encountering issues with you development which you'll have to work through yourself - as Vista is not yet a supported platform for assistance from Microsoft (although they are always willing to here about you issues). Then I'd say go for it.
If your intention is to use the Beta for Real world production systems, Serious production development or support of existing applications then I'd say tread very carefully - as beta software is just that Beta - Things change, performance of the OS is not optimized, drivers for specific hardware may not be available. In which case 2003/ XP may be better for the time being.
So takes you pick and decide what you want to use. I have 5 machines and Vista is one of them but I've had mixed experiences on different machines with the beta.

It took 3 hours but Vista installed ithout a hitch, so far so good. When i run VB2005 i get an error saying: The proper type library could not be found in the system registry. An attempt to repair this failed because you do not have the permissions to write to th system registry or because the type library could not b loaded. This can be fixed by a system administrator running this program once which will cause the proper file to be registered.... VB2005 still runs properly and my programs as well. The only problem so far is the amount of RAM that Vista takes up. My PC has 512MB (Microsoft recommends 1GB) and the cool CPU/MEM meter in the cool Sidebar is always in the red zone. 88% of my Memory is being used when i only have Firefox open! I wont even thik about playing one of my games... The Vista experience continues |

For the most part I think you will find your apps will work.
Vista is a hog. It is more resource intensive than say Windows XP and there are more security issues- but thats the price you pay for those nice people that want to write code to infect/damage you machines.

Does any1 know of any issuesbetween VB and MS Access 2007? |
| MrJP Tuesday, July 18, 2006 6:44 AM |
Access 2007 saves as .accdb files, which i dont know are compatible. Also how they are saved is changed. Office 2007 doesn't use the Assistant (the annoying paperclip)so this isnt comaptible |
