Printdocument speed (Vista versus XP Pro)

i still had some issues after reinstall of vista home premium.

i was going to reinstall vista business instead of home premium but instead decided to try windows 7 professional.

so far i am very impressed with windows 7.  overall it seems to be much better and faster than vista.  it just feels much more stable.  there are a few things i don't like but they are minor.

i also upgraded to visual studio team suite.

after loading some old web applications which had some issues that poppped up in my forms out of the blue, the issues seem to be cleared up.  specifically there strange black boxes throughout many of the forms and in one of my larger windows apps there were some issues with data not loading correctly.

the printdocument is also running very quick.  seems faster than it was before the slow down issue.

so in the end i am not sure the cause of the slowdown but after moving to windows 7 and visual studio team suite, all is good.

have had a miraculous change in speed today.

last night i changed my power options from balanced to high performance and after playing with the printing today it previewed 87 pages in the time it took to preview 1 before.

looks like i may owe vista an apology.

i still can't find a cause or fix.

Today, cleaned off my machine and reinstalled the original Vista Home Premium (no service pack) which came with my laptop.  Installed VS 2008 Pro (no service pack), Office 2003 Pro and so far it has been consistently quick to print preview with print document.  Office 2003 runs extremely faster than 2007 has ever run on my machine.  I noticed that Office 2007 running slow and the print document running slow seemed to coincide.  It also affected print preview with SpreadsheetGear for .NET as well.  I was thinking that the printing issues may all be related to print document with all these applications.

Still cannot say if this is related to Vista or not.  My XP Pro machine has never shown a slow down and it runs Office 2007.  Seems to be an issue just on Vista machine.  I will have to wait and see if the issue shows up again.
