Hi everybody, I am doing a c++ course and have been asked to install a free copy of visual c++ express that I have been given on disc, I am running a virtual machine on my mac but whenever I try to install the file it cannot establish a connection to the internet...an when I try the free download link on http://www.microsoft.com/express/vc/ my browser cannot display the page ( I am trying to download it in both firefox and int explorer) Can anyone give me advice on why this is happening whether or not I am going to able to install it on a virtual machine on my mac?

Some clarification with you:
What's the OS of your virtual machine?

Based on your description, it seems that there is something wrong with the networking on your Virtual machine.
For your concern, I would suggest you to download the offline installer of Visual Studio 2008 Express products which contains Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition from http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/.
(Please check "Offline Install")
If you cannot download it from this virtual machine, you can try downloading it from other machines and copying the installer to the virtual one.

Second, try to share you mac network card with the virtual machine ...
