Hi Im having trouble registering MS VS c# 2008 express edition. I cant load the product until I give a registration key and when I click the link to register now, in internet explorer once I sign in with windows live account I am presented with a blank white screen that says done. I've had no email nothing.
Any Ideas?
Thanks |

Registration has been fixed. Can you verify that it is working? |

same here.
downloaded & installed yesterday from (http://www.microsoft.com/express/)
lurked around, found some old posts, no resolution.
It's not ie7 or silverlight runtime, i tried with ie6. same issue. no change with firefox.
the registration servers are not down because registration for the 2005 express components still work.
either we got an invalid installation id or product id, or they temporarily turned off 2008 registrations.
either way.. i downloaded the offline iso, i hear it doesn't require a registration.. though, i'm not sure about that.

Same problem,
worked with vb express 2006 without registration, went on holidays and ... cannot work anymore.
Tried all the browsers, confirmed my email-adress in the microsoft profile - it works fine, now i will surely recieve a lot of wonderfull ads - and nothing but a white screen

Same here, I've been waiting over 8 hours now. Had a burst of inspiration today and was going to get a lot done. I guess not. What's the point of the registration key on a free product anyways?

Any word yet Weston? I have been waiting since 8:00pm last night and I have too much to do!

Not yet. We are escalating this issue to the appropriate team at Microsoft and they are looking into it. We have repro'd the issue on our end and are actively diagnosing the issue. Sorry for the delay. |

It's not working indeed. Useless. |

Well well,I finally came through: I uninstalled .VC90-EE, NET 3.5 [PRE RELASE] and some old MSVC 6.0 stuff and reinstalled VC90-EE and voila: not only did it start again without blocking on the registration but also from Help->Register I got a new registration key. To the responsible MS-Webmaster: if one has touninstall pre-release software first, could you please presenta more descriptive error message than: blank-screen?Greetings, Maarten.

Same thing for me. I know it worked 3 months ago, as I installed the package on my laptop.
Such a pain... I thought it was fixed.
For the info, I have .NET 1.1 + Hotfix update, .NET2.0 SP1, .NET3.0 SP1, .NET3.5 installed.
Also, I have XP SP2 with all the latest updated installed (today).
Help would be really appreciated,
Thanks a lot

I'm having the same problem with Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition registration. When can we expect this issue to be resolved? I have 27 days left until my copy expires.

Hmm... Some of us must be in a different dimension!
Registration presents a blank screen after collecting one's data. Shouldn't it do something like say an email has been sent with the registration key, or possibly display the registration key?
At any rate, I cannot get past the pre-execution popup that says I need to register when I try to run Visual C++ Express!:-< It won't let me in to the program at all so I cannot select the register menu option. The link supplied by the popup, "Register Now", only presents me with a login screen. Once logged in, it then displays my user profile information, when I try to continue from there, I get the blank screen and it's all over!:-{
Truly, it would be nice if this were fixed for those of us in this lost dimension! Can you folks in the successful dimension put your heads together and help us out?

Sorry everyone, didn't spot this post so created another thread asking the question.
I'm getting the same issue. |
| SteveW76 Monday, April 07, 2008 10:39 AM |
Well I'm glad I'm not alone on this problem.
I think when they said "Registration has been fixed." that 'dimension' was two months ago. It seems that it broke recently, so we are getting a bunch of new users (such as myself)in this thread with it not working. |

April 7- I get the exact same errors in IE & FF.
So frusterating! |
| a1eos_ Monday, April 07, 2008 7:13 PM |
In FireFox, it gives me:
"XML Parsing Error: no element foundLocation: https://profile.microsoft.com/ProductActivation/ProductActivation.aspx?lcid=1033&WizId=c25356b7-91cf-4efe-9b63-b96613cc330e&h=19aa091ab399c54b&pid=91909-152-0000052-60820Line Number 1, Column 1:^"
Can you give us a date as to when this issue will be resolved?
|
| Wesley Royer Tuesday, April 08, 2008 2:01 AM |
I've identified the problem and the solution:
The problem is that you have all installed Microsoft Visual C++ Express 2008. The key part of this problem is linked to the word Microsoft.
The solution is to download and install the Sun Microsystems NetBeans IDE, which is free, does not require you to participate in a registration process its creator can't figure out, and it can be used for any purpose you want.

If my registration period expires before this problem is resolved, I will switch to that. |
| Wesley Royer Tuesday, April 08, 2008 2:55 AM |
APRIL 8TH - 9:20AM UK Time
It's working now and I have successfully registered.

Steve

I've been trying for SEVEN days to register VB 2005 Express and get a blank screen. Unable to use VB 2008 Express as the latest version of the DotNet framework confilcts with SQL Server Management Studio.

| andymr Friday, August 28, 2009 11:58 AM |
I'm also unable to register it.
OS: Vista Home Premium x64
Any help?
Can't you just like release a key in here, that everybody who got a problem can use?
Just like a temporary fix, since the registration is free anyway.
EDIT:
Ive got it working now, My standard browser was Chrome before, And off cause Microsoft made a trick so only people with IE as standard would be able to do it.
My advise if you got another browser than IE: Make IE as standard for a sec, go register and then make the browser you use to use as standard again :) - Proposed As Answer byhypermx Saturday, October 03, 2009 12:13 AM
