Good Day Fellow Developers,
I've just started using the VWD Express tools, and am well on my way of following the on-line tutorial's by Bob Tabor. Upon reaching the step to create the user login / membership feature, he instructs the developer to click on the ASP.NET Configuration Tool, and click the "Security" tab once the tool interface appears. When selecting this tab, I receive an error that the tool has "Timed-Out", and to simply restart the tool application to over come the error. Unfortunatly, no matter what I do, or what tab on the ASP.NET WCT I choose - I get the same "Timed-Out" error.
I run this software on a 1.8 Ghz with 256M of RAM. Is my computer processor too slow, or not enough RAM?
So, before I go out and spend over $1,000.00 for a faster computer, I'd like to know if any of you have run across this problem, and how you over came it.
Thanks for the help and God Bless!

Hi!
When I first looked at your post, I though there might be something wrong, until I saw how much RAM you had. 256meg of ram is below the suggested minimum for VS2005, so that likely could be the problem. That would be the first thing I would try upgrading.
The best place for asking ASP.NET questions is on the ASP.NET community site, and in the forums there. Check out http://www.asp.net/welcome.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=39.

WHEN I OPEN THE WEBADMIN SITE WITH VS2005 AND THEN RUN IT WITH CTRL F5 IT WORKS. WAZZUP? | | DevinP Thursday, April 20, 2006 4:07 AM | | Scott Sullivan wrote: | Good Day Fellow Developers,

Hi - I got the same problem - have a Dell Optiplex 240 with 1 Gb RAM - The message I get when logging into the ASP.NET configuration tools is the very helpful "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
Regards.
